A Story that didn’t just begin from a business plan

At kraosan, our main mission
anchors around Magelang’s Desil
1 & 3, where education is the
greatest challenge.

In the specific regions of Desil 1 and Desil 3 in Magelang, the path to
education is often obstructed by more than just distance. For many
families here, the cost of higher education feels like an unreachable
luxury
, often forcing children to leave school early to support their
household’s immediate needs.

The Answer Was Growing in Our Own Backyard

In the search for a way to break
the cycle of poverty, the answer
didn’t come from outside—it was
already rooted in our soil.

By focusing on Magelang bamboo, we realized that by transforming
this resilient, local resource into export-quality packaging, we could
create a sustainable ‘economic engine’ directly within the village.

Magelang Bamboo as the Origin of Kraosan Material

We are able to provide our weavers with a stable income that respects
their heritage while providing the financial bridge needed to keep their
children in school.

Navigating the Global Pandemic & Economic Crisis

At a time when survival was deemed more critical than schooling, our mothers didn't have to sacrifice one for the other.

One of our artisans earned enough to purchase the headphones and tools her child needed to stay connected to their teachers. Through her craft, her child’s future never skipped a beat.

Addressing the "fatherless" gap

Economic pressure often forces fathers to migrate to distant cities or countries for work.

By creating a sustainable industry at home, we ensure that fathers in Magelang can remain present. This reduces the "fatherless" gap, alleviates the mental burden on mothers, and keeps the family unit strong and resilient.

The Story of the Founder

It all began with a single hand
reaching out when things were at
their hardest.

Tribuana Desy Ariyanti - Founder of Kraosan

Growing up in Magelang, I saw
many doors closed by the weight
of poverty, until I discovered a
hand reached out from the
horizon, which is the Bidikmisi
scholarship.

Dewi’s journey began not in a boardroom, but in the humble villages of
Magelang, Central Java. Growing up in an environment where economic
limitations often dictated the future, Dewi experienced firsthand the
weight of living in poverty.

The Bintang Scholarship

Kraosan X Hoshizora Foundation

I realized that for a village to truly
rise, the bridge to crossed
(education) had to stay open for
everyone else.

Kraosan partners with the Hoshizora Foundation to channel a portion
of our proceeds into the Bintang Scholarship. Through this
collaboration, we ensure that every product you purchase contributes
directly to the education of our sponsored students, a mission that has
now successfully reached its 10th Batch.

Our impact is managed in partnership with Hoshizora Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing
equal education opportunities for Indonesian children.
